What Tech Is Trending In Government?

By Blog No Comments
the U.S. Capitol at night

3 Solutions Modernizing the Public Sector

Have you ever wondered what’s trending in government tech? The truth is the government oversees initiatives that have a significant impact on our daily lives, so it’s important to know how they’re moving us all forward. Of course, this question becomes very important if you work in government.

More often than not, the government has a reputation for being on the tail end of technology trends. And in a world where more and more of us choose digital solutions over the alternative, government entities are starting to pay attention to these trends so they can keep up with the tech-friendly constituents they represent.

Just like most businesses have to overcome challenges when modernizing their technology, government entities do too. However, the challenges they face are very unique. If you work for a government entity, you know there are more hoops to jump through and protocols in place than private companies. Upgrading technology can be a big overhaul and budgets are usually more limited and harder to stretch.

Even with these challenges, if you are a government entity, it’s imperative you modernize because of your responsibility to the public. Citizens rely on you to provide, protect, lead and create a path toward the future. Without forward-thinking technology solutions in place, government entities default on your most important role: serving your constituency.

We recommend starting with three key solutions that have high-ROI.

You Might Also Like: Safeguarding Your Salesforce Data: Best Practices For Government Entities

Solution #1: More collaboration, more progress

Often when dealing with multiple government agencies, there can be a breakdown in communication and process that can create a siloed feeling among organizations. You want to work together to get things done, but working in different platforms and systems make collaboration difficult

It just so happens project management apps and software that work across organizations and agencies are making a name for themselves in the industry. Smartsheet Gov, for example, offers secure sharing and fast user adoption and gives government entities a way to work together through one platform. With collaborative software like Smartsheet Gov, silos are being eliminated as agencies operate together and create workflows that are streamlined. All of this helps more projects get completed in less time.

Solution #2: Taking documents and signatures digital

When you hear the word digitization, you probably associate it with negative risks like data breaches and losing control of sensitive information. For government entities, you know there are strict regulations dictating how you must keep files longer than most people realize. If you neglect to digitize and store documents correctly, you open yourself up to the risk of lost data.

Thankfully innovative software solutions exist that eliminate the risk of storing paper documents and instead secure documents in the cloud. With modern technology trends like e-signature and document generation apps, government orgs can rely on this software, knowing full well that their information is being kept secure.

If you’re using Salesforce, our document generation solution S-Docs is native, meaning it works within the Salesforce environment and data does not leave the cloud, an added security benefit. It’s trusted by many public sector organizations such as The VA, Oregon Health, New South Whales Government and many more.

Solution #3: Putting customers first, always

Constituents are essentially customers, and deserve a first-class customer experience when they work with government agencies. Likewise, new business leads and contracts should be treated the same, with top-notch service and onboarding procedures that are seamless. Sometimes, the back and forth of emails, paperwork, signatures and tasks can feel inefficient. And that’s the furthest thing from modern.

Instead, implementing a task management software creates a more professional onboarding experience for customers. Popular task management software TaskRay, for example, allows agencies to track the progress of contracts and projects and keep onboarding on schedule. TaskRay improves handoffs, adjusts schedules and helps government agencies maximize their efficiency and deliver on time.

So if you are a government agency, how are you using innovative technology trends to modernize your office? Rather than falling behind the curve and letting outdated legacy systems and inefficient workflows hold you back, take advantage of the software solutions mentioned above (as well as others not mentioned here) to stay ahead of the game. The public sector is in a unique position to build a path toward the future, more so than many other industries. To get there, all they need to do is look to the innovative solutions that are paving the way.

Our Dreamforce 2019 Highlights

By Press Release No Comments

Wednesday, December 04, 2019

Now that Dreamforce 2019 is over, there’s only one thing we’re aiming for over the next 343 days: find comfortable shoes for Dreamforce 2020. Seriously, we pushed our shoes to the breaking point during our four days in San Francisco; the Dreamforce Campus was huge!

All joking aside, Salesforce’s biggest conference of the year proved unforgettable once again; the inspiring keynotes, informative breakout sessions, insanely exciting parties, and interactions with fellow Trailblazers in the Salesforce community made this year’s Dreamforce better than all the rest. And we’re not just saying that - here’s a look back at some of our favorite moments from Dreamforce 2019 that prove it gets better and better every year.

Fireside Chat with Tim Cook

After getting settled in San Francisco and making sure every Max the Moose was accounted for, the team headed over to the Moscone Center to begin the Dreamforce festivities. After the inspiring opening keynote, we attended the week’s first fireside chat between Apple CEO Tim Cook and Salesforce Co-CEO Marc Benioff. This talk was one of our favorite Dreamforce events by far, not only because of the great ideas discussed, but because we think they align so well with our own values here at S-Docs.

Tim Cook began his discussion with Benioff by talking about his philosophy on privacy.

“You don’t bolt-on privacy,” said Cook. “You have to design it in.”

Alongside keeping privacy at the forefront of product innovation, Cook talked about the way Apple has maintained success for over 40 years by focusing on their values first, including equality, sustainability, and having a mindset focused on helping others.

These ideas really resonated with the S-Docs team. As a native Salesforce solution built on the Force.com platform, S-Docs has kept our clients’ privacy and data security in mind since day one. Data used to generate documents with S-Docs never leaves the Salesforce cloud, meaning it’s one of the most secure document generation solutions available on the AppExchange.

Cook’s values-based approach is something we adhere to at S-Docs as well. We’re a proud member of the Pledge 1% Movement, and our team regularly volunteers its time to help our local communities. We also participate in sustainability movements like the Commuter Challenge in Ann Arbor, which challenges participants to use greener methods of transportation. And of course, we’re always committed to providing the best solutions to our customers.

Overall, this discussion is well worth watching if you missed it.

The Benefits of a Native Document Generator

It goes without saying that the S-Docs theater session, which detailed how to save time and money with native document generation and e-signature solutions, was another one of our favorite moments of Dreamforce this year. Our software engineers presented on the many benefits of using a native application like S-Docs, including boosted employee productivity, speedier implementation timelines, and reduced expenses.

The session had great attendance and included some laughs alongside the insights that made it a big highlight for everyone involved.

Customer 360

If you were at Dreamforce this year (or even if you weren’t), you probably know about one of the biggest overarching themes: as consumer preferences rapidly change, it’s becoming more and more necessary for brands to obtain a detailed, 360° view of their customers in order to meet their expectations, and there’s no better way to do this than with Salesforce’s cross-cloud Customer 360 Truth platform.

The Customer 360 Truth platform, announced during the opening keynote, allows companies to sync their customer data across all clouds and obtain a single profile for each customer to deliver great cross-channel experiences.

This was an exciting announcement for us because it involves the customer-first mindset that we pride ourselves on. While Customer 360 Truth breaks down data silos and creates an integrated view of the customer, applications like S-Docs work in the background to accomplish the tedious work and eliminate errors, allowing you to spend more time focusing on the customer experience.

Dreamfest

Supporting UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital? Partying with fellow Salesforce enthusiasts? Fleetwood Mac?! What’s not to love about Dreamfest?

The S-Docs team had a blast at this year’s Dreamforce concert/philanthropy event, and it was made even better by the fact that all the money raised by the event goes to UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital. As a Pledge1 member, this mix of fun and philanthropy was an inspiring high point of Dreamforce for S-Docs, and a perfect way to unwind after a day of great conversations and informative sessions.

Connecting With Fellow Trailblazers

While Dreamforce was filled to the brim with different breakout sessions, cool swag, fun parties, and delicious food, we think the most invaluable part was the opportunity to meet new people from all over the world who are just as passionate about the values that Dreamforce embodies as we are.

S-Docs had booths in the Campground expo and Trailhead zone, meaning that throughout the entire event, we were constantly syncing up with current customers, meeting new people, and teaching other Salesforce users about the benefits of using a native document generator and e-signature solution. We loved hearing some of the great things our customers are doing with our solutions, as well as the creative ways that other Trailblazers are using Salesforce to better their business and make a difference in their own way.

As this year’s Dreamforce came to a close, everyone walked away inspired by new ideas and ready to innovate our way into a successful 2020.

S-Docs Releases S-Sign, A Native E-Signature Solution For Salesforce

By Press Release No Comments

For Immediate Release

New Salesforce E-Signature Solution Maximizes Security, Speed, and Cost

S-Docs, Inc. releases a new Salesforce electronic signature solution, S-Sign, to complement its popular document generation app

New York City, NY | November 22nd, 2019 /PRNewswire/-- S-Docs, the leading Salesforce document generation app, today announced the launch of S-Sign, a new e-signature solution built entirely on the Salesforce Platform. Built to maximize electronic signing speed, security, and cost savings for Salesforce users, it is available today to S-Docs Unlimited Edition Customers.

S-Docs is the leading document generator for hundreds of enterprises such as Unilever, Jaguar Land Rover, Johnson & Johnson, Nestle and more. Salesforce users benefit from S-Docs’ native infrastructure, which provides added benefits like faster document generation, superior reliability, enhanced security, and additional cost savings.

“With the launch of S-Sign, S-Docs’ new e-signature feature, we can now extend a full-service solution for our clients’ digital document needs. We’ve mastered the speed and simplicity of generating complex documents, and now with S-Sign, clients can easily sign those documents anywhere. A huge benefit is that the solution is built entirely on the Salesforce Platform so client data never leaves Salesforce, providing our customers with a security advantage not found in other solutions that don’t have the same native architecture,” said Dan Pejanovic, CEO of S-Docs.

S-Sign features standard electronic signature components like a drag’n’ drop interface, so users can easily add signature prompts to documents. An end signer will have the option to execute documents in-person, via email or mobile by drawing their signature directly, or by adopting a signature from a list of pre-selected fonts. All executed documents will be routed to the respective parties and stored in the related record in Salesforce.

Since S-Sign is under the S-Docs portfolio, the benefits of using a 100% native Salesforce application carry over. S-Docs clients state that “S-Sign is very user-friendly,” and the set-up is a breeze since it mimics the look and feel of Salesforce. The pricing structure is another huge competitive advantage. Dan Pejanovic elaborates, “since we don’t pay for external or 3rd party servers, we’re able to extend those cost savings to our customers. The native infrastructure allows us to be more competitive. And, we don’t price per-envelope or per-document, so it’s incredibly cost-effective.”

Restrict A Template From Being Emailed

By Best Practices, Documentation, S-Docs Cookbook No Comments

Use Email Settings To Restrict A Template From Being Emailed

Although S-Docs will show the Email Selected Docs button by default after a document has been generated, it is possible to hide this button and disable a template's ability to be emailed. There are many reasons that an admin might want to restrict templates from being emailed; for example, if a document contains potentially sensitive information, it might be easier to avoid mistakes by taking away the email option entirely.

To accomplish this, navigate to the template editor for the template that you want to restrict from being emailed.

Next, navigate to the Email Settings tab.

Finally, check the Lock To box, and leave the To field blank. Once you click Save, the template will no longer be able to be emailed.

What The End User Will See

When the document is generated, the Email Selected Docs button will be gone.

If multiple S-Docs are generated, and some of them can be emailed, the ones that you restrict will have a lock icon.

Keep in mind that this must be done for every template you want to restrict from being emailed. If you would like to learn more about the S-Docs template editor, please visit our template editor guide and our guide to email templates in S-Docs.

3 Tricks to Impressing Your Team and Consistently Over-Delivering

By Blog No Comments
people achieving goal together

It’s a good feeling when you can go above and beyond what’s asked of you. Especially when it’s a request from upper leadership. So what keeps us from over-delivering every time we’re tasked with a project?

Maybe the below scenario sounds familiar:

Your team asks you for a specific report, you know the data required lives in Salesforce and you have a very manual way of extracting and arranging it in a neat, presentable format. The problem? It’s quite the process:

  1. First, you have to pull reports in Salesforce, export and manipulate the data and then copy/paste that information into your doc
  2. Next, you format the document and deal with all those fun formatting intricacies
  3. Finally, once it’s ready, you send it out via a manual email to your team

If you’re a Salesforce admin, the trick to getting more done and over delivering is through automation. If you have an automation app in place, pre-made templates can shorten lengthy manual processes and it has the potential to streamline customer communication. Both will help you deliver faster, anticipate needs and stay two steps ahead.

You Might Also Like: Salesforce Hack: How To Increase Productivity Through Automation

Trick #1: Use templates to solve most of your problems

Now, we’re not saying that document automation is the solution to every problem, at least not yet, but there are quite a few ways it can help. What’s more, software like S-Docs, for example, is constantly adding more templates and tools that are malleable and can be made to fit any organization’s needs.

Instead of brainstorming the layout you are going to use for a few hours, go straight to the S-Docs template library, and see what solutions may have already been developed. There’s multiple templates to choose from. After all, why recreate the wheel, right?

Trick #2: Streamline your communication

You probably haven’t considered how your teams’ communication methods connect with over-delivering to your exec team, but there’s an unbelievable amount of value in efficient, streamlined communication. With a document generation solution, like S-Docs, in place you can work towards automating emails and status updates. Building this type of automated communication proactively is a great way to ensure you are going above and beyond what’s asked of you. And it takes the hassle out of multiple step processes, which enables you to deliver relevant information in a more timely manner.

Trick #3: Stay two steps ahead

When you implement a document automation tool, you not only get more time back to focus on bigger projects at hand, but you’ll have time to anticipate your execs’ follow up questions and needs in the future. What’s more impressive than giving your team what they ask for, when they ask for it, AND providing even more information than what was originally requested?

With S-Docs, you’ll be prepared for those tedious requests and well equipped to stay two steps ahead, over-delivering what’s requested with something even better.

S-Sign Quick Install & Config Guide – Salesforce Classic

By Documentation, S-Sign No Comments

Introduction

Welcome to S-Sign, a 100% native e-signature solution for Salesforce. This guide details the steps you need to take to install and configure S-Sign in your org so that you can get started with secure e-signatures. S-Sign leverages Salesforce Sites and the secure Connected App feature, which you'll learn how to set up in this guide.

To view the same guide for Salesforce Lightning, click here.

Note: This article makes several references to your S-Sign Internal User. Your S-Sign Internal User is any licensed Salesforce user of your choosing. S-Sign operations that require internal data access will be conducted through this user's profile using the secure S-Docs Connected App. We recommend choosing a Salesforce Administrator.

Tutorial Video

The following tutorial video details how to set up S-Sign in Salesforce Lightning Experience. The instructions below detail how to set up S-Sign in Salesforce Classic.

Installing S-Sign

Unlike S-Docs, S-Sign is not available on the AppExchange. Contact S-Docs Sales to obtain an installation link for the latest version of S-Sign. Make sure to select "Install for All Users." We recommend testing in a sandbox environment before installing in your production org.

You may need to update S-Docs if you're running an older version.

Pro Tip

Try to keep as few tabs open as possible during this configuration process. This will help prevent settings confirmed in one tab from being negated by another open tab.

Head over to Installed Packages by typing "installed" into the Quick Find / Search bar in Setup to ensure that S-Sign has downloaded correctly and that your version numbers are up to date.

We recommend assigning the S-Sign User or Administrator permission sets to yourself and users who will be interacting with S-Sign. Learn more about S-Sign permission sets here.

Note: If you are using S-Sign version 2.1 or above, your org needs to have the Quote object enabled for S-Sign to work properly. To view instructions on how to enable Quotes for your org, click here.

Configuring S-Sign

Config Step 1: Create Remote Site Settings

S-Sign uses SendGrid, an email service, to send out verification emails to signers in order to confirm the signer's identity. This bypasses any email limitations you may run into in your Salesforce org, ensuring that your e-signature requests will always send. To allow S-Sign to tell SendGrid when to send out a verification email, you must create a Remote Site Setting within Salesforce that whitelists SendGrid's API domain (i.e. allows S-Sign to communicate with SendGrid).

To do this, navigate to the Setup menu, type "Remote" in the Quick Find / Search bar, and click Remote Site Settings from the options that drop down. Then, click New Remote Site.

Fill in the following fields for your new remote site:

Remote Site Name: SSign_Email_Verification_Site
URL: https://api.sendgrid.com

Ensure that the Active checkbox is checked. You can leave everything else as it is.

Next, create a new remote site for the Salesforce login URL if you don't have one already set up.

For Production Org:
Remote Site Name: Salesforce_Production

Remote Site URL: https://login.salesforce.com

For Sandbox Org:
Remote Site Name: Salesforce_Sandbox

Remote Site URL: https://test.salesforce.com

Finally, create a third remote site for your Salesforce domain.

Remote Site Name: Enter anything you'd like
Remote Site URL: Enter your Salesforce domain.

Note: You can copy your domain from your address bar, e.g. https://na1.salesforce.com or https://cs2.salesforce.com. In the URL, note that the number after na or cs will vary.

If you are using S-Sign with communities, you should create a remote site for your custom domain as well.

Config Step 2: Create a Site to Capture External Users' Signatures

Like S-Docs, S-Sign is native to the Salesforce platform. This means that all signers must sign within Salesforce, even if they do not have a Salesforce account. To accomplish this, we'll set up a Site in our org that will display your document(s) and allow users to sign them.

Start by again navigating to the Setup menu, then type Sites into the Quick Find search bar and [1] click Sites from the options that drop down. Next, [2] Register a Force.com Domain from this page if you don't have one already. Then, [3] click the New button on the "Sites" list to create a new Site.

Fill in the following fields for your Site:

  • Site Label: S-Sign Site
  • Site Name: S_Sign_Site
  • Site Contact: This is the user responsible for receiving site-related communications from the site visitors and Salesforce.com. By default, it is set to the user creating the Site.
  • Default Web Address: You can append something to the end of your site's domain, but it is not necessary.
  • Active: Make sure this is checked so that the site is active.
  • Active Site Homepage: You can choose anything you want for this, but we recommend setting it to "Under Construction." This won't be visible to anyone.

Finally, ensure that you uncheck the Lightning Features for Guest Users checkbox. This is to conform to S-Sign's security standards.

You can choose whatever you'd like for the rest of the fields or leave them at the default settings.

Click Save.

Once you click Save, you should be redirected to the Site Detail Page. The only thing left to do for this step is to add a few Visualforce pages to our site. Scroll down to the "Site Visualforce Pages" list on the Site Detail Page and click Edit.

Add the pages SDOC.SDTemplateHTML, SSSign.SSMultiSign, SSign.SSCreateSig, SSign.SSTemplatePDF, SSign.SSVerify, and SSign.SSViewEnvIncl. Then, click Save. You've now completed this step!

Create Sharing Rules

Note: If you are using S-Sign version 2.178+, please skip this step and move on to Step 3.

If you are using S-Sign version 2.110-2.177, you need to create a Sharing Rule on the S-Sign Envelope and SDoc Template objects. First, navigate to Setup > Sharing Settings, and choose your object. You will need to repeat this step for both objects.

Click New to create a new sharing rule.

Enter the following settings:

Rule Type: Guest user access, based on criteria
Field: Core Version
Operator: not equal to
Value: 1.00
Share With: S-Sign Site Guest User
Access Level: Read Only

Config Step 3: Create a Lookup Field to your Object on the S-Sign Envelope Object

You need to create a lookup field for any objects you’ll be using with S-Sign.

Note: you can skip this step if your object is Opportunity or Contact, as a lookup field for these objects comes built into the package. If you are using version 2.1 and above, Contract, Quote, and Account will also have a lookup field pre-configured.

In the Setup menu, type "Objects" into the "Quick Find / Search" bar, then click Objects from the options that drop down. Click S-Sign Envelope (NOT the S-Sign Envelope Document and NOT the edit button).

Scroll down to the Custom Fields & Relationships section and click New.

Step 1 of 6: Choose Lookup Relationship for the field type. Click Next.

Step 2 of 6: Select the object for which you are creating the lookup relationship (the object you want to use S-Sign with). Click Next.

Step 3 of 6: This step is where you’ll add the field label and name. Default values can be kept for the rest of the fields.

  • For custom objects, the field label will just be the name of your custom object. The field name should be the API name of your custom object with a single underscore and a 'c' at the end, instead of the usual "__c." For example: if your custom object was named CustomObject and the API name was CustomObject__c, then your field label would just be CustomObject, and your field name would be CustomObject_c.
  • If your custom object is part of a managed package, it will have a namespace at the beginning. Say the object's API name is NSP__CustomObject__c. For the field name, you would replace the two underscores after the namespace with _u_ and remove one of the underscores from __c, so the resulting API name would be NSP_u_CustomObject_c.
  • For standard objects, just enter the name of your standard object (ex. the Quote object would have the field name and field label 'Quote').

Step 4 of 6: Select your own field-level security settings. Click Next.

Step 5 of 6: Keep the default values.

Step 6 of 6: Add the S-Sign Envelopes related list to the appropriate page layouts. Click Save, and when you go to your object’s page, you’ll see the S-Sign Envelopes related list.

Config Step 4: Create an S-Docs Connected App

S-Sign leverages Salesforce's secure Connected App integration. This involves configuring a Salesforce Connected App and specifying an internal user in your org to conduct S-Sign operations through. To set this up, please follow the steps outlined in this article.

Assign The S-Sign Internal User Permission Set

After specifying an S-Sign Internal User during the Connected App configuration in Step 4, you need to assign the S-Sign Internal User Permission Set to said user.

From the Setup menu, type "Permission" into the Quick Find bar, click Permission Sets in the dropdown menu, then click on the S-Sign Site Internal User permission set.

Next, click Manage Assignments.

Then, click Add Assignments.

From there, choose the username that you specified as the S-Sign Internal User in Step 4.

Config Step 5: Provide Site Info

The next step is providing S-Sign with your Site's Site label and URL.

Start by navigating to the S-Sign Configuration page. If you are using S-Docs 4.381+, you can get to this page by clicking the All Tabs (+ icon) > S-Docs Setup > Go To S-Sign Setup Page.

If you are using a version of S-Docs below 4.381, the S-Sign Configuration page can be accessed through one of the following links:

[Production]: https://login.salesforce.com/apex/SSIGN__SSConfig
[Sandbox]: https://test.salesforce.com/apex/SSIGN__SSConfig

First:

  1. The S-Sign Configuration page contains a field for your S-Sign Site URL. Ensure that the URL shown in this field matches the Site URL you created in step 2. To do so, navigate to the Site detail page for your S-Sign site (Setup > Sites > S-Sign Site), copy the site domain from the Custom URLs list, and paste it into the S-Sign Site URL field on the S-Sign Configuration page. Make sure to add https:// at the beginning of the domain.
  2. If your Site detail Custom URLs list includes two S-Sign Site URLs (shown below), use the URL that ends with secure.force.com.

Then, click the Set Site Info & Assign Permissions button. You can also click the Assign License button to assign an S-Docs license to the S-Sign Internal User if one has not already been assigned.

Config Step 6: Enter your License Key and Assign Licenses to Users

Once you've completed steps 1-5, you are ready to enter you license key and assign licenses to users in your org. Click Click here to be redirected to the S-Sign License Page at the top of the S-Sign Configuration page.

From there, you can enter your license key.

If you are on the trial version, all you need to do is enter the license key, and then all users in your org will be able to use S-Sign. If you are on the paid version, you can now scroll down to assign licenses to individual users by selecting their names and clicking Add Selected Users.

That's it! S-Sign is configured for your org. You are now ready to create S-Sign-enabled S-Docs templates to send for E-Signature.

Use Global Functions To Add Or Remove Licenses

Orgs that need to add or remove a large number of S-Sign licenses can use the addSSignUserLicenses and removeSSignUserLicenses functions. These functions are global and can be called from anywhere, allowing for flexibility if you need to make a bulk update to your S-Sign license assignments. These functions take a List<String> object. Although there are many ways to use them, the following example demonstrates how to add an S-Sign license to all active users:

[code lang="html"]List<String> userIds = new List<String>();
List<User> activeUsers = [SELECT Id FROM User WHERE isActive = true];
for (User activeUser : activeUsers) {
userIds.add(String.valueOf(activeUser.Id));
}
SSIGN.SSLicensesController.addSSignUserLicenses(userIds);[/code]

Tips From S-Docs To Make Dreamforce ’19 A Success

By Blog No Comments

Dreamforce 2019 kicks off on November 19th--that’s less than a month away! As we get hyped for the biggest Trailblazing event of the year, we’d like to share some of our tried-and-true tips on how to get the most out of your Dreamforce experience next month.

1. Build a Schedule

With a full-conference pass, you’ll have the opportunity to choose from 2,700+ breakout sessions (including the benefits of using a native document generator), discounted certification exams, demos, networking opportunities, parties, and sight-seeing excursions around San Francisco. It can seem like a lot to handle all at once! That’s why it’s important to prioritize topics you think will boost you & your business in the next year, then build a schedule that incorporates those topics. Make it easier by bookmarking sessions you want to attend, then use the Agenda Builder to plan everything when it comes out. You can also download the Salesforce Events app to help you organize on the go. This way, you’ll get the most bang for your buck and won’t be stuck making those decisions on the fly when you get to Moscone Center.

2. Attend the Expo

As you’re building your schedule, be sure to make time for the Expo. There are hundreds of sponsors coming to Dreamforce, so you never know what solutions you might find that you never knew you needed. Plus, you’ll probably collect a lot of free stuff…

3. Connect with the Community

Even if it’s a bit outside of your comfort zone, we highly suggest saying hello to the people around you and making new friends. Dreamforce is one of the biggest networking events of the year, so take advantage of this and meet your fellow Salesforce users. The person sitting next to you could completely revolutionize what you’re doing - but you’ll never know until you say hi!

4. Go to the Admin Keynote

If you’re a Salesforce admin, the Admin Keynote is a must-attend event. This keynote will provide you with tips and best practices on how to use Salesforce to its full potential. Even if you’re a seasoned Salesforce veteran, you’ll still get value out of this keynote because there’s always new things to learn. And of course, be sure to make time for the opening keynote, hosted by Salesforce Co-CEOs Marc Benioff and Keith Block, on Tuesday, November 19 at 9:30 AM.

5. Get Certified

If you’re ready to take the next step in your career, Dreamforce is the perfect time to do so, since Salesforce certifications are 50% off. From Administrator to Platform App Builder, this is the best value you’ll find for these exams. Just make sure to study hard before you arrive!

6. Get Ready to Party & See the Sights

There’s a lot to learn at Dreamforce, but after a long day of breakout sessions and networking, it can be nice to kick back, relax, and party with other Salesforce enthusiasts! Starting on Monday the 18th, Dreamforce parties are known to be one of the best parts of the conference. Check out a list of the best parties you won’t want to miss here. In addition, take advantage of Salesforce’s HQ city by visiting the numerous attractions near the conference; check out the San Francisco travel website to plan your sight-seeing excursions.

7. Visit Us at Booth #1409

While you’re living it up & getting all you can out of Dreamforce, make sure to stop by the S-Docs booth to say hello! Our team members will be ready to share ways document automation can boost your team’s efficiency and data security, as well as why it’s the smart choice for a multitude of industries. We’ll also be hosting a breakout session about the benefits of being native to Salesforce, and why S-Docs and S-Sign can help save you money, increase employee productivity, and speed up your digital transformation. Oh, and we’ll also have really cool swag to give out - We hope to see you there!

October 2019

By Release Notes

S-Docs 4.34

Major Updates:

  • Runtime Prompts Writing Back to Salesforce
    • Using S-Docs Runtime prompts? Now you can write the responses logged from those Runtime prompts back to Salesforce.
      • For example, let’s say you’re generating a contract that changes T&Cs depending on the recipient's state. A Runtime prompt will prompt the user with the question “What state is this T&Cs clause for?” and the user adds their response “California.” This enhanced function will enable that data to be written back to Salesforce.
        • Pro Tip: You can now save those responses and pre-populate them as needed for the next time you generate the document you’re working with.
  • Box Integration
    • S-Docs is now fully compatible with Box, a cloud document management and file sharing service. Our integration enables users to automatically store generated documents to their Box account.
  • Even Faster Processing
    • Our product teams are constantly hard at work to ensure you always get your documents as fast as possible. New optimizations allow up to 10x faster generation for particularly complex files.

Minor Updates:

  • General
    • Support was added for using Runtime Prompts merge fields in the Document Name field
    • Support was added for merge field attribute nullsub, which will insert a specified value in the event that a merge field returns a null value
      • Example - If you use {{!Opportunity.Quantity nullsub="0"}}, 0 will appear in the place of the merge field if the Quantity field is null
    • Adds field "Email Params" to the S-Docs Job object to accommodate various advanced parameters
      • Usage: you can use this field to add advanced parameters that are not available to access through standard fields on the S-Docs Jobs object. For example: &useExistingNoContactRecord=true&SetOrgWide=example@gmail.com
    • Support was added for RENDER in the <groupbyheader> tag
      • Example: <groupbyheader position="after-group">Product Name,Product Description,[!--RENDER={{!Opportunity.Name}} CONTAINS 'Burlington'--]Qty[!--ENDRENDER--],Unit Price,Total Price</groupbyheader>
  • XLSX
    • Support was added for leveraging the queryname feature in XLSX documents
    • Support was added for [{{!Opportunity.Quantity NUMBER}}] in XLSX documents
      • Use [{{!Opportunity.Quantity}}] to tell Excel to interpret the merge field as plain text, and [{{!Opportunity.Quantity NUMBER}}] to tell Excel to interpret the merge field as a numeric value
      • NUMBER must come at the end of the merge field, e.g. [{{!Opportunity.Quantity nullsub="0" NUMBER}}], rather than [{{!Opportunity.Quantity NUMBER nullsub="0"}}]
  • Related List Column Attributes

    • Support was added for related list <column ...> attribute "showcolumn" allowing you to conditionally hide a column, and <column render…> to conditionally show individual cells from a column
    • Support was added for parameters &attParentId2FilterAtt= and &attParentId2FilterFile= which will add filters to the queries on Attachments and Files whose parent record is specified by &attParentId2=
      • Example: &attParentId2=0066A000002ioH6&attParentId2FilterFile=ContentDocument.FileType=%27PDF%27%20AND%20
        ContentDocument.Title!=%27Contract%27
    • Support was added for related list column attribute replaceall, which supports regexs
      • Standard Syntax: <column replaceall="replaceThis1,replaceWithThis1,replaceThis2,replaceWithThis2,...replaceThisN,replaceWithThisN">
      • Regex Syntax: <column replaceall="[regex]([a-zA-Z]\)), $1">
      • This feature is very similar to the column substitute feature, with the following two exceptions:
        • Substitute matches against (and replaces) the ENTIRE string, whereas replaceall matches against (and replaces) all substring appearances of the specified string. Therefore, if the data value is "Burlington Textiles Corp", then replaceall="Burlington,My" would change the value to "My Textiles Corp".
        • There is no "else" condition in replaceall
    • Support was added for related list column attributes allprefix and allpostfix, which function the same as column attributes prefix and postfix except they are applied on null column values as well
      • This makes maintenance easier on templates that had columns with the same values for prefix and nullprefix

To read the full documentation on these advanced features click here.

  • Noteworthy Bug Fix
    • Fixes bug that temporarily broke <, <=, >, and >= operators in RENDER
      • RENDER would always evaluate to false even if the expression should've been true if any of these operators were used
      • This bug was only around for a brief period in versions 2.911-2.918

S-Sign 2.0

Major Updates:

  • Signing and Sending Multiple Documents
    • New updates have improved the overall signer experience. New signers are now brought directly to the signature page when opening an envelope and are able to see how many pending documents require signature.
    • The sender experience has also been improved. You can now bundle multiple documents together and send them as one request. In addition, you can see the status and signer queue on the envelope.
      • For example: Signer 2 of 5 Signed, or Signer 3 of 5 Rejected
  • Text-to-Signature
    • Now signers can choose to customize their signature with different cursive font options. Once selected, the adopted signature can be populated throughout the remaining inputs of the document.
  • Expiration & Reminder Alerts
    • Reminding signers that their signature is pending is easier than ever. Just update the S-Sign envelope with a reminder alert set for a customized timeframe and an email alert will be sent from S-Sign on your behalf.
    • Sending out an end of quarter contract? Now you can set an expiration so the S-Sign link expires on your specified date if the signer hasn’t executed as expected.
  • Sleek new design added to the S-Sign audit trail and enhanced user experience throughout

Minor Updates:

  • Adds field "Active Signer" to S-Sign Envelope object. This field displays the profile name of the person who is currently being waited on to sign the request
  • Improves UI/UX of required input field types by placing red text saying "Required" next to required inputs that have not been provided.
    • Adds better messaging for the remaining input fields that require user attention before submitting the document
  • Support was added for using a custom logo on the S-Sign Verification splash screen
  • Support was added for using org-wide email addresses as the From Email Address in S-Sign requests sent via S-Docs Jobs
Pledge 1% movement

S-Docs is proud to be part of the Pledge 1% movement

By Blog No Comments
Pledge 1% movement

If you’re familiar with S-Docs, then you know we are in the business of improving. Improving workflows, improving time management, improving communication and more. But what you may not know is that we’re also dedicated to improving our communities and making an impact. It’s because of these commitments that we joined the Pledge 1% movement.

Where document automation meets giving back

You may be asking yourself what a document automation software company like S-Docs has to do with giving back. Therein lies the Pledge 1% story. Founded by Salesforce.org to help leverage technology to give back to local communities, Pledge 1% is now a global movement that advocates for companies to make giving back a part of their corporate culture. The model is simple, companies pledge the equivalent of 1% of their revenue through a combination of equity, employee time, product or profit to their community. According to a recent Forbes article written about the movement, over 8,500 companies in 100 countries are currently participating in Pledge 1%.

Putting S-Docs to work for good

We knew that our team had a desire and capacity to give back and they were looking for a way to make philanthropy a part of our corporate culture. We’ve focused our efforts on giving back to our local communities in a number of ways. Most recently, our Ann Arbor team volunteered their time to serve the homeless at the Shelter Association of Washtenaw County (SAWC), whose mission is to end homelessness in Washtenaw County.

“One of the many wonderful things I learned from my years at Salesforce was how business can make a positive impact in every community. I’m very proud that we’ve continued that tradition at S-Docs,” said Dan Pejanovic, CEO of S-Docs.

We’re excited to make an impact, whatever way we can. S-Docs team members have also spent time volunteering in local community kitchens, washing dishes from dinner service, where 100+ received meals, and preparing food for the next day. It’s rewarding for our employees and we’re looking forward to continuing to give our time to nonprofits that need it.

The movement towards community and social change

Times are changing, there's no doubt about it. And more and more, customers are gravitating towards brands with a high degree of corporate responsibility. In fact, a Nielson study revealed 55% of global online consumers say they are willing to pay more for products and services provided by companies that are committed to positive social and environmental impact. With this in mind, we know that our commitment toward serving our communities not only benefits our employees and corporate culture but also benefits our customers. We’re proud to be a part of Pledge 1% and, if you’re a S-Docs customer, we hope you’re proud too. We wouldn’t be able to participate in a program like this without you.

If you’re interested in finding out more about our commitment to Pledge 1% or want to read more about the movement, you can learn more here.
